The web.config file is a configuration file for the Spider .Net application. It is found in the root of the PCSchoolSpider virtual directory, typically c:\inetpub\wwwroot\PCSchoolSpider.

This file is a text file and may be opened and edited with notepad. It may also be accessed in IIS but right clicking the PCSchoolSpider directory, selecting Properties, navigating to the .Net tab and clicking the Edit Configuration button.

The main reasons for editing the web.config file are to:

  • Set the location of the Webapp Web Services
  • Setup Personalisation
  • Set the AbsentRollWeb.xml file to be used.
