Unable to Open Lock File

When running PC School (usually on a new PC) the error Unable to open Lock File can sometimes be seen. This is due to a Dataflex Registration error. The problem is usually one of the following:

  • A corrupt or missing .dfr or termlist.cfg file in the client C\Program Files\Visual Dataflex 11.0\Bin folder. Ensure that the files are the same as the ones found in the Visual Dataflex 11.0\Bin directory on your server.
  • Insufficient permissions to the client C\Program Files\Visual Dataflex 11.0\Bin folder. Users running PC School must have rights to modify in this folder.

The above information is for users of PCSchool Student Management School Software.
