Invalid sql_drv.cfg File

When running PC School with SQL, you can log in, but then get a “User Count Exceed” or “Registration Expired Error”. The problem is not related to User Counting, or to expired licenses. This is a problem where the sql_drv.cfg file is the incorrect one. It typically occurs when a restored backup, or PC Remote installation fetches the sql_drv.cfg from the wrong location.

Normally you will find the the Flex2SQL tool provided by Mertech will run without error. If Flex2SQL runs with the same error, then using the Mertech Registration program and re-registering your license should correct the problem.

When Flex2SQL does run without error, we can be sure that the correct sql_drv.cfg file can be found in C:\Program Files\Mertech Data Systems\DB Drivers\DataFlex\bin.

Once you’ve located this file, the easiest way to correct the problem is to run a Windows File Search and look for other instances of this file. Once you’ve located the other copies of this file (usually in Visual Dataflex/Bin and/or PCSchool/Programs), simply replace them with the correct copy from the Mertech Data Systems folder mentioned above.

The above information is for users of PCSchool Student Management School Software.
