Incorrect FormatXML Namespace

When the error “Format Sytle not for this Subject or DataBase Unavailable” occurs while viewing a Class in Spider Result Entry, this usully indicates that there is an error within the FormatXML file which is being opened. This file is the one selected in the Result Style field.

Usually this error is associated with an incorrect Namespace value in the XML file. To make sure this setting is correct, please do the following:

  1. Find the FormatXML file. They should be found in the “PCSchool\Documents” folder on you PC School server.
  2. Open the file with Notepad or another suitable XML Editor.
  3. The first line of the file should read something like <formatting xmlns=”http://www.pcschool.net/ResultData“> or <formatting xmlns=”http://www.pcschool.net/Formatting“>. If it doesn’t, change it!
    1. older versions of Spider are far less forgiving with this than the newest version. The newest version will accept a range of values here, but the old version will not. Unfortunately there is no hard and fast rule as to which one is accepted in older versions, so it can take a little trial and error to work out which is which.

The above information is for users of PCSchool Student Management School Software.
